MMAL AT A GLANCE

The Marin Middle School Athletic League (MMAL) promotes educationally based interscholastic athletics by providing safe, equitable, inclusive and developmentally appropriate opportunities for students to compete, learn, and grow. Through athletics, MMAL fosters sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, leadership, and respect while creating a positive environment where all student-athletes can succeed both on and off the field.

OUR PROGRAMS

The Marin County Middle School Athletic League (MMAL) strives to provide meaningful opportunities for students to compete in a safe and respectful environment—one that values sportsmanship, integrity, and personal development at every level of play.

The MMAL currently offers six (6) sports for all public middle schools, as well as several private schools of Marin County. The sports MMAL oversees are basketball, cross country, flag football, soccer, track & field, and volleyball. It is our vision to continue growing the program as the interest in our community grows.

MMAL encourages the participation of all students, not merely the skilled athletes. In order to encourage wide participation and to inspire student-athletes to compete with integrity, demonstrate sportsmanship, build character and develop lifelong healthy habits, the MMAL is built on a strong foundation of dedicated volunteer coaches and students open to learning and playing fairly.

The true goal of educational athletics is to educate and is not about wins and losses – educational athletics is about learning.

HOW CAN MY STUDENT PARTICIPATE

Each school manages its own athletic program and registration process. To participate in MMAL athletics, your student must register through their school. Please contact your school's Athletic Director for registration dates, eligibility requirements, tryout information, and available sports.

Each season, teams may be placed into divisions based on competitive balance to provide the best possible experience for all participants. Division placement is intended to create meaningful competition and may change from season to season.
